Customized configuration of voice assistants in different areas of the CAPD to facilitate user autonomy. Voice assistants offer significant benefits for people with intellectual disabilities. These assistants provide an accessible interface that does not require advanced reading, writing, or comprehension skills. Some of the possibilities include setting reminders, creating task lists, scheduling appointments, remembering medication intake, listening to a summary of the day’s news, or turning on a lamp remotely. These features help compensate for potential cognitive difficulties related to memory and organization, provide access to relevant and updated information, and improve the autonomy of people with disabilities. For their implementation, the needs of both users and professionals were taken into account, ensuring that commands and functions are accessible and useful.

The subproject on virtual assistants focuses on the integration of Amazon Echo Show 8 devices in the centers, with the goal of facilitating technological interaction and promoting cognitive and communicative stimulation activities. These devices were configured to provide various functionalities such as playing music and radio stations, telling stories, and maintaining simple conversations with users, encouraging communication and entertainment in an accessible way.
Additionally, the Alexa units act as a central hub for connecting and controlling other smart devices in the centers. To achieve this, the Broadlink and Goove applications were synchronized with the Alexa Home app, allowing all components to be integrated into a single system. Thanks to this setup, it is possible to control the television, adjust lighting, and change the colors of LED lights through voice commands, thus offering an interactive, comfortable, and user-adapted experience.
